Partnership brings Virginia Credit Union’s logo to the field at Lane Stadium, a first of its kind collaboration in Blacksburg
BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech Athletics and Virginia Credit Union announced an enhanced partnership that will bring Virginia Credit Union’s logo onto the field between the 20 and 30 yard lines at Lane Stadium, building on a connection between one of Virginia’s most recognized financial institutions and the Commonwealth’s most iconic sports venue.
Beginning with the 2026 football season, Virginia Credit Union’s branding will be prominently displayed on the field at Lane Stadium, providing the credit union with one of the most visible brand positions in collegiate athletics in Virginia and placing its brand directly in front of Hokie Nation and a national TV audience on game days.
“We have tremendous momentum within our athletics department and partnerships like this are another example of how we intend to build on it,” said Brian White, Virginia Tech vice president and director of athletics. “Virginia Credit Union is an outstanding organization with deep roots across the Commonwealth, and we’re proud to strengthen a relationship that creates meaningful value for both organizations and for Hokie Nation.
"As we continue to position Virginia Tech to compete at the highest level nationally, we have to be bold, innovative and intentional about identifying new opportunities to generate resources and elevate our brand. Seeing Virginia Credit Union on the field at Lane Stadium will be a visible representation of that shared ambition and an exciting step forward for our athletics department.”
Virginia Tech Athletics, in partnership with its multimedia rightsholder Playfly Sports, facilitated this expanded partnership, reflecting a shared commitment to Virginia communities and to creating meaningful experiences for the fans, families, students, and alumni who make Virginia Tech Athletics special.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Virginia Tech football and be part of the excitement surrounding the team,” said Chris Shockley, president and CEO of Virginia Credit Union. “As Virginia Tech continues to build momentum, this sponsorship gives us a meaningful opportunity to support the Hokies, engage fans, and strengthen our presence in the communities we serve.”
In addition to the on-field branding, the partnership will create opportunities for Virginia Credit Union to engage directly with the Virginia Tech community through fan-focused experiences, promotions, and community initiatives. Virginia Credit Union will donate to Carilion Children’s for each first down that the Hokies gain this season in an initiative called Down to Help.
“We’re also proud to partner in a way that extends beyond just game day,” Shockley continued. “Down to Help gives every first down a deeper purpose, turning the excitement of Virginia Tech football into meaningful support for children receiving care at Carilion Children’s and families across our community.”
The partnership further demonstrates Virginia Tech Athletics’ commitment to developing strategic relationships with organizations that share its values and vision for the future.
