He is the current Executive Chairman of EverPass Media, a joint venture between RedBird Capital Partners and the NFL, and the former CEO of NBA China. As a veteran media, sports, and entertainment executive, Chang’s experience and vision will help Playfly Sports expand its global reach and potential, in addition to building new relationships across Playfly’s key segments. “As domestic and foreign leagues continue their globalization endeavors, there is no denying the anticipated impact on brands and fans,” said Playfly Founder & CEO, Mike Schreiber. “Derek’s unique background in both global sports leadership and television media will be invaluable as Playfly continues its growth trajectory and plans for the future.” As the CEO of NBA China, Chang was based in Beijing and spearheaded the NBA’s effort to expand its presence as the preeminent foreign sports league in the region. Before joining the NBA, Chang was the Head of International Lifestyle Channels at Scripps Networks Interactive, based first in Singapore and then in London. Before Scripps, Chang served as Executive Vice President of Content Strategy and Development at DIRECTV where he oversaw all content acquisition and production following senior executive positions with Charter Communications, the YES Network, and TCI Communications. Chang currently serves on the Board of Directors of Liberty Media which owns interests in a range of businesses including Formula 1, the Atlanta Braves, SiriusXM, and Live Nation.
